Change Autel AutoLink AL619 English software to French?

Original Autel AutoLink AL619 OBDII & CAN ABS and SRS scanner supports multi-language, including German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Italian, Dutch and Russian. The default language is English. But you are able to change the language you want if you register at Autel official website and provide your device SN.

If the Autel AL619 scan tool shows it’s the French version, but it only shows “Control” and “Play” on the screen without giving any error massage. No matter how it was connected by OBD or USB, Autel AutoLink scanner didn’t work at that time.

Autel AutoLink AL619 scanner can be upgraded into the French version so the vehicle software must be the French version. If the language of the scanner is the still English version, the auto diagnostic tool cannot be seen.

Engine ABS SRS Faults Diagnosis in Honda 2005 by AUTEL AL619

Hello, bros! I’ve got AUTEL AL619 last week from China for my 2015 Honda to diagnose its ABS and SRS faults. And I saw some guys have trouble in it and today, I’d like to share my successful diagnosis with AL619.

Turn the ignition off.

Locate the vehicle 16 pin DTC.

Plug the scan tool cable connector into the vehicle’s DTC.

Turn the ignition on. Engine can be off or running.

Turn on the scan tool. Select “OBDII” from the main menu, and press “OK” button.

Communicating with the vehicle....

Then ...

Select “Stores codes” to find no stored codes and then select “Pending codes” to find no pending codes.

Press any key to continue.

Back to Diagnostic Menu and exit.

Select “AbsSrs”.

Select the “Asian/HONDA”.

Starting diagnostic system...

Select “EUROPE” as destination.

Start new session.

Communicating...

Select “Control unit”.

Select “SRS”.

(NOTE: the engine should not be running, but the ignition should be on.)

Diagnostic system initializing...

Go to “READ CODES”.

Establishing vehicle communications...

System pass. No fault codes detected.

Go back to System Menu to select “ABS VSA”.

Diagnostic system initializing...

Communication with ABS control unit was successful. ABS control unit won’t quit communication and will work normally during the vehicle running.

Select “READ CODES”.

Skip this fault code the because ABS system is not a serious fall and the ABS light is showing up.

NOTE:

 If the scan tool fails to communicate with the vehicle’s ECU (Engine Control Unit) more than three times, a “LINKING ERROR!” message shows up on the display. 

Verify that the ignition is ON. 

Check if the scan tool’s OBD II connector is securely connected to the vehicle’s DLC. 

Verify that the vehicle is OBD2 compliant. 

Turn the ignition off and wait for about 10 seconds. Turn the ignition back to on and turn on the scan tool to select OBDII from the Main menu.

If the “LINKING ERROR” message does not go away, then there might be problems for the scan tool to communicate with the vehicle. Contact your local distributor or the manufacturer’s customer service department for assistance.

ECU Reprogramming with Autel MaxiFlashPro J2534 & MaxiSys MS908

Last week, I got Autel MaxiFlashPro J2534 and MaxiSys MS908 shipped from China. A little expensive, and it will be better if it can be sold as a combination :D But, worth every penny.

Here is the step-by-step instruction about ECU reprogramming with Autel MaxiFlashPro J2534 and MaxiSys MS908 for sharing.

Select “MaxiSys”.

Select “Diagnostics”.

Tap the second button on the top and select “Auto detect”.

Establishing vehicle communications...

Tap “Yes” for the correct auto scan report.

Select “Programming/Customization”.

Select “Programming”.

Do the following instruction according to the

“Connect MaxiFlashPro to the vehicle and MaxiSys.

Turn the ignition off.

Verify the vehicle battery fully charged.

Turn the ignition on and the engine off.

Connect MaxiFlashPro to Data Link Connector.

Connect MaxiFlashPro to MaxiSys.

Switch MaxiFlashPro device on and wait for the device to get ready.

After Programming, technician will be given the opportunity to clear diagnostic trouble codes from all ECUs on the vehicle.

The technician may want to record DTCs and Freeze Frame Data befor continuing.

Note:

Please use the USB cable to connect MaxiFlashPro to MaxiSys.

Make sure MaxiSys is connected to the internet before connection”

If there are no Controller Specific Instructions, turn the ignition off for 30 second to reset the controller.

Clearing DTCs will erase stored history data from alll controllers on the Data Link.

Controller currently in use, Move your interface to any additional auxiliary Data connectors on the vehicle to clear DTCs from other controllers. When finished, return the interface to the Data Link Connector.)

Tap “Yes” to clear the DTCs.

How to add portable battery for Autel MaxiDAS DS708 scanner

If you have an Autel MaxiDAS DS708 scanner, you must have known that the scanner does not come with a built-in battery like maxisys sysetms and needs to connected to a vehicle to provide power. Here I have came up with a decent idea/solution.

For less than $25 you can buy a rechargeable 12 Volt battery pack module with coaxial DC connectors off ebay and just use some Velcro and mount it on the the rear of the MaxiDAS. The unit I purchased came with a short length of a coaxial power jumper cable that fits the DS708 and the battery pack also has a power switch on it so you can actually keep the MaxiDAS from draining the battery when the DS708 is turned off.

I have not timed how long the unit can run, but it works well for quick jobs and if you need to power the tool up for other purposes and not be tied to the car or a power outlet.

If  you need to use the rear stand, it is not a problem depending on how and where the battery pack is mounted. Looking at how I mounted the MaxiDAS DS708 battery on the rear stand can be used without removing the battery pack.

It fits neatly inside of the prop stand and just the power connection/wire slightly blocks the prop stand if you want to use it, but this is easily worked around.

So think about adding this to your MaxiDAS for convenience and portability.Below are some pics:

Here is guide for Citroen Berlingo key programming:

1.Turn IGN on but not to crank the engine.

2.Connection Autel DS708 autokey programmerwith the vehicle and then boot up DS708 Main unit;

3.Select area and car model: European >> CITROEN >> BERLINGO >> BERLINGO 2;

4.Next automatically reading the vehicle’s VIN;

5.You need to enter the vehicle information;

6.Click “Control Unit” >> BSI >> Learning >> Key programming and click “start” on Unlock ECU interface.

7.You will be asked for confidential code and click OK to continue.

8.Enter the number of keys you want to be programmed.

9.Turn IGN off and then on within 15 seconds.

10.If success, it will pop out message to ask you to insert the next key in the ignition switch;

Note: It is ok if you only program one key; while you program more than one key, you just need to put another key in the ignition switch.

How to program Holden VE key with Autel DS708 Scanner

Autel DS708 is known as a diagnostic tool for all cars. But recently a customer asked if DS708 can program GM car keys? Although we do not see people use DS708 scanner to create keys often, the answer is yes, it supports key programming for some GM. Below is a guide on how program 2012 Holden VE key with the tool.

1.Plug Autel MaxiDAS DS708 to the OBDII port in the Holden. DS708 is a hand-held tool and does not need to connect a PC.

2.Insert the original key to turn on the Holden switch to run but do not start the motor.

3.Turn on DS708 by pressing the power switch on the back.

4.Select Holden – VE and WM Series in the main menu. DS708 uses Touch screen.

5.Click on “Body” in system – “Immobilizer” – “programming” – “Program all transponder keys”.

6.Wait a few seconds for DS708 to communicate with the car. It will prompt messages:
Maxi ds708 link to Immobilizer,
Maxi ds708 link to ECM,
Maxi ds708 link to AudioSystem,
Maxi ds708 link to BCM
and Maxi ds708 link to IPC.

7.Wait until DS708 counts down 10 seconds, then turn ignition on to activate the programming.

8.Turn on the ignition.

9.Turn off and make sure no other transponder key is within 10cm.

10.Turn the ignition on again then click on “Continue” on the right side.

11.Turn the ignition off again.

Now a new Holden key is programmed successfully.

During this process, the DS708 does not change anything in the keys. It helps introduce the keys to the Holden as legitimate keys, and help grand the new key authorization to start it.

Insert the next key if you want to program more keys and Autel MaxiDAS DS708 will create the second key automatically. Please note that the Holden can only recognize five keys at most.
